Hapa Zome (flower/leaf printing)
in-person age 9-16

Wednesday 21st July 2021 1:00-3:00

WORKSHOP: This workshop is based on the ancient Japanese art form that uses the natural pigments from leaves and flowers to produce a print onto fabric. During the session you will forage in the grounds of Insole Court. Using a wooden mallet you will create detailed prints. You can then choose to embellish with simple stitches and embroidery threads or doodle on your designs to make them into unique mixed media art pieces. Whichever you choose, you’ll be taking home a very different piece of textile art.

Please read the covid guidelines and terms and conditions before booking

Where will the workshops take place?

We will be embracing the outdoors and working between gazebos and where necessary the studio space. Outside the studio is a large patio area which houses the outdoor classrooms. The tutor will have a teaching desk to work from. Students will be mostly outdoors and asked to wear a mask indoors if they are over 12. Common sense will be applied at all times but even outdoors some may feel more comfortable wearing a mask. Visors are also provided for anybody who wishes to wear them. Hand sanitiser is in every work station and use is encouraged regularly. All students are expected to respect each other’s space and safety at all times.

There are private toilet facilities at the studio that are only for the use of Beth Morris Workshops students.

You are advised to bring layers of clothing as the Welsh weather is a little unpredictable. Please do not bring unnecessary items that may get lost or broken though.

It’s raining on the day of the workshop, will it still happen?

Yes, the gazebos have sides and the studio space can also be used under appropriate guidelines. High winds may effect the workshop, but I will advise via email if I need to cancel for this reason.

What happens if the pandemic is ongoing and government restrictions do not allow workshops at the allocated time?

The workshops will adhere to ALL guidelines and will absolutely only take place if it is safe to do so. No risks will be taken. Please read the T’s and C;s and Covid Guidelines below.

If I have to cancel an in-person workshop because of covid restrictions, I will do my best to provide a similar workshop online and you will be given the option to transfer, or receive a full refund.

My child is attending two workshops on the same day? Can they stay for the break in between?

Yes. Please provide a packed lunch. Children may stay on the grass outside the studio to eat and chat to friends. I will be clearing up and setting up the whole time so will be available if they need me. However, they may not leave the grassed area and go to the cafe if you leave them under my supervision.

Is there a discount for siblings?

Yes, if you are booking more than one child in the same household onto a course please use the code FAMILY to take 10% off your overall in-person workshop booking.

Do I have to adhere to the age guidelines when booking?

Yes please. I have years of teaching experience and I am the Mum of three, so I set the age limits for a reason. The tasks are age appropriate and the children / young people should all feel comfortable with their peers.

Does my child need to bring any materials or art supplies?

No, all materials are included in the price of the in-person workshops
