Kids Journal Together
Tuesday 22nd December 11:00-12:00 online
Suitable for girls and boys aged 6+, and especially teens up to 16.
With the #BUJO craze still going strong, I suspect a bullet journal is on the Christmas lists for many this year.
This workshop is an excellent opportunity for kids and teens to learn how to plan for 2021 and why keeping a journal benefits their life creatively. The focus will be on simple day to day activities where they will address positivity and wellbeing in one place - their journal!
The workshop will introduce the way they can use creative page spreads to log things, document times to look forward to, track moods, habits and behaviour, write about their feelings and draw their thoughts.
There will be a strong emphasis on making their journals unique and like working sketchbooks full of their favourite ideas.
Example tasks will be:
Daily gratitude
Designing goals
Thinking about creative themes
Weekly, monthly and daily spreads
Artistic ideas to make your journal different
How to find ideas and inspiration - Beth will teach you how to research for creative ideas
I will tell everybody about the awesome stationery that is available for bullet journalling and the places you can purchase it. Danger alert... you will become a stationery addict after this workshop.
Class sizes are not limited as most of the engagement is listening to the inspiration as it unfolds.
How does a Beth Morris Workshop zoom workshop work?
The participants will be muted on entry to the zoom session and it is very much a listen and learn workshop. However, this does mean the energy and enthusiasm will be any less that if we were all in the same room together. There will be chats, and plenty of demonstrations to watch and you will be encouraged to engage with questions via the chat facility on zoom. The tasks will be short but inventive so will get you thinking quickly and will leave you keen to develop your creativity after the workshop.
How can the same workshop be suitable for a young child and an older teen?
The way Beth teaches is to encourage and develop skills of all levels and ability. Therefore as the learner you will take responsibility for following the workshops and using the knowledge acquired to produce art work.
The workshops are taught using live demonstrations. I will offer simple and harder versions of the projects, showing examples that will suit both children, teens and adults. In my in-person workshops at my studio, I often present the same task to children and adults and have found this technique produces some inspirational art work.
A child needs to be old enough to listen, engage and follow instructions. Therefore I do not advise any younger than six to attend the workshop without a parent.
As an older teen you will learn and apply the knowledge gained to your own art practice.
As the workshop is primarily listening, watching and doing together, the chat is mostly from the teacher so therefore is suitable for all.
The bottom line is….art is for everybody. How many times do parents watch their kids colouring in or paint and wish that they could get involved. You are never too old or too young to be an artist!!! Let’s do this!!!
I have two children, or myself and my children all want to attend, do I buy two tickets?
The cost of the workshop is valid per household. So if you have more than one child, please only purchase one ticket. Siblings can all watch the same workshop, and families can all join in together. Or if you have an older teen and fancy drawing alongside them, again you just pay per household.
How will I access the workshop?
The day before the workshop is due to take place you will receive the zoom ID code and password via email. Please do not share this with anybody else. All workshops will take place promptly at the times advertised.
