Spooky Window Gallery

Spooky Window Gallery

Wednesday 28th October 11:00am

Suitable for girls and boys Aged 6+ and particularly families who would like to create together

With trick or treating pretty much off limits this year why not create a Halloween window gallery instead? A spooky window display will possibly scare but hopefully bring joy to people out walking and exercising. Yes, there are plenty of shop bought decorations but home-made ones are always best!

During this workshop, Beth will teach you to draw, paint and collage images for your gallery. You can work alongside her but more importantly gather ideas to create lots of art after the zoom finishes. Imagine how great you window gallery will look if you spend the whole afternoon working on it?

You will learn how to draw creepy characters based on films, animations and books. Think Tim Burton’s corpse bride, Harry Potter’s witches and wizards, and don’t forget Dracula, Frankenstein and Casper the ghost!

You will also learn how to paint spider webs, bats, pumpkins and collage freaky cats, monsters and spine tingling faces.

Along with developing drawing and painting skills, you will be given ideas on how to decorate your spooky window. You can stick, hang, or string your designs on to bunting or mobiles. The aim is to have the best window in your street. If you are up for the challenge, book now!

How does a Beth Morris Workshop zoom workshop work?

The participants will be muted on entry to the zoom session and it is very much a listen and learn workshop. However, this does mean the energy and enthusiasm will be any less that if we were all in the same room together. There will be chats, and plenty of demonstrations to watch and you will be encouraged to engage with questions via the chat facility on zoom. The tasks will be short but inventive so will get you thinking quickly and will leave you keen to develop your creativity after the workshop.

How can the same workshop be suitable for a child and an adult?

The way Beth teaches is to encourage and develop skills of all levels and ability. Therefore as the learner you will take responsibility for following the workshops and using the knowledge acquired to produce art work.

The workshops are taught using live demonstrations. I will offer simple and harder versions of the projects, showing examples that will suit both children, teens and adults. In my in-person workshops at my studio, I often present the same task to children and adults and have found this technique produces some inspirational art work.

A child needs to be old enough to listen, engage and follow instructions. Therefore I do not advise any younger than six to attend the workshop without a parent.

As an adult you will learn and apply the knowledge gained to your own art practice.

As the workshop is primarily listening, watching and doing together, the chat is mostly from the teacher so therefore is suitable for all.

The bottom line is….art is for everybody. How many times do parents watch their kids colouring in or paint and wish that they could get involved. You are never too old or too young to be an artist!!! Let’s do this!!!

I have two children, or myself and my children all want to attend, do I buy two tickets?

The cost of the workshop is valid per household. So if you have more than one child, please only purchase one ticket. Siblings can all watch the same workshop, and families can all join in together. Or if you have an older child  and fancy drawing alongside them, again you just pay per household.

I don’t have any children. Can I just do the workshop myself?

Absolutely!!

How will I access the workshop?

The day before the workshop is due to take place you will receive the zoom ID code and password. Please do not share this with anybody else. All workshops will take place promptly at the times advertised.
