‘Art is the most important way of recording history’ - Pat Steir

Join us for a journey into the wonderful world of Art History with our new and exciting course. Each term, we will delve into the lives of particular artists from history, exploring their biographies, the art movements they were part of, and their unique contributions to the world of art. Using the medium of oil paint, you will experiment with their styles, methods, and painting techniques, ultimately creating your own masterpieces inspired by these iconic artists.

This course is suitable for all abilities and levels of experience. As you learn about different artists and art history, you will also broaden your knowledge of various styles and techniques. In addition, our course will cover essential aspects of painting, including understanding art supplies, mastering colour theory, and perfecting colour mixing.

Develop your oil painting skills while enjoying the fascinating stories and contexts of historical artists in a friendly and supportive environment. All supplies are included for the learning tasks so you can fully immerse yourself in the creative process. However, we do advise that when you paint your more focussed pieces it may be a good idea to purchase your own paints so you can work at home.

Join us and make art history come alive on your canvas!
