Create Escape

£165.00

Sketch-booking, fashion illustration, journalling, mixed media and mindful art practice

Tuesdays 12:30-2:00

Starting Tuesday 29th April 2025

10 week term with a break for half term

Taught by Beth Morris

Time spent engaging with a creative activity has been well documented as imperative for mental health. This is an opportunity for students to create in a relaxed environment without the pressure of outcomes. Just creativity for enjoyments sake.

This course will explore how to keep a sketchbook for creative practice. You will learn how to prepare pages for sketching and mindful drawing. The activities will be peaceful yet will inspire ideas for future artwork and give you a starting point to continue the process at home.

We will look at journaling as a way to organise a busy brain and help you plan at the same time as sparking creativity.

People are important, so we’ll look at fashion and how to draw people and the clothes they wear. You will learn fashion illustration techniques. You will capture accurate body proportions, fabric representations, colour, pattern and create a style. You will be taught by Beth Morris author of ‘Fashion Illustrator’ published worldwide and will use her input to create your own illustration style.

You will also take the art materials on an adventure and discover the fun you can have taking your pencil or even a needle for a walk. We’ll pay particular emphasis on creative freedom, text, quotes and using thread as a drawing tool.

Basically on this course, you’ll learn how to relax and enjoy being in the moment. It’s like a weekly creative self-care plan.

All abilities are welcome especially complete beginners! Your skills will build and improve over time.

This is a unique course to Beth Morris Workshops that you won’t find anywhere else in Cardiff.
