Wednesdays 7:15 - 8:45
Starting Wednesday 17th September 2025
12 week term with a break for half term
Taught by Kate Broadhurst
Watercolour is a wonderfully versatile and exciting medium. In this class you’ll learn all the fundamentals of watercolour painting aswell as more contemporary, expressive styles to take your art to the next level.
You’ll learn all the core watercolour techniques such as ‘wet into wet’, masking and glazing. You will be taught all aspects of watercolour painting, including layering different types of washes and using brushes and other painting equipment to best effect.
As always with this type of course you will be encouraged to develop a good understanding of how colours work with a practical guide to mixing paints and using colours successfully. We’ll also learn some basic drawing skills that are key to good watercolours when it comes to planning pictures.
Then, as your skills grow you’ll be encouraged to experiment and find your own creative voice. There will always be a wide variety of subjects to keep you inspired and develop your confidence week on week. Most importantly it’s about having fun, embracing the creative process and finding freedom in your paintings.
As the old adage goes, practice makes perfect - so lets get painting together and you will develop watercolour confidence throughout the course.
All art materials are included in the price.
