Fashion and Textiles
Tuesdays 4:00-5:15 age 11-16 secondary (10 in each session)
A fashion illustration technique course for those who want to draw people and the clothes they wear. You’ll learn how to capture accurate body proportions, fabric representations, colour, pattern and create a style. We will look at fashion design, mood-boards and be inspired by fashion artists old and new. This is a lovely chance for students to create in a relaxed environment without the reassure of exams and assessments. You will be taught by Beth Morris author of ‘Fashion Illustrator’ published worldwide and will use her input to create your own style.
You will also take textiles on an adventure and discover the fun side of hand stitch. This exciting and creative fashion and textile art course is designed for older primary children and secondary age students. Many schools are no longer offering textiles as an option, so it is an excellent way to encourage stitch as a skill, with a particular emphasis on creative illustration and stitching the fashion figure.
All abilities are welcome especially complete beginners! Your skills will build and improve over time. Learning about new materials and art techniques will also help you enhance your school studies in creative subjects.
This summer (2021) will be focused on the direct study of nature and fashion and textiles, utilising sketchbook study and a myriad of media and techniques.
All students will be given an octopus hard backed sketchbook to fill over the course of the term and the sessions will be based outdoors.
