Saturday Studio Sessions (Secondary 11-18)

Saturdays 11:30-12:45

Starting 17th January 2026

age 11-18 (secondary)

9 week term (no class on 7th February due to an adult guest workshop weekend)

Taught by the Saturday Studio Sessions Team - a different artist each week

A brand new creative course for secondary-age students (11-18 years) who want to take their art to the next level.

Each Saturday, you’ll work with a different professional artist or tutor, each bringing their own style, specialism, and creative approach. Every week offers something new, new materials, new ideas, new ways to experiment and express yourself.

Think of it as a mini foundation course in art and design, a space to stretch your skills, spark ideas, and find your artistic voice.

Across six weeks, you’ll explore:

🎨 Drawing and observation from life

🖌️ Painting, colour theory, and mixed media

📒 Sketchbook development and journaling

👗 Drawing people, fashion, textiles, and stitch

🧱 3D construction and collage

💡 Concept development, composition, and creative thinking

A few sessions may have a seasonal or festive theme as we move towards Christmas, and every week will be fresh, imaginative, and completely different.

All materials are included, you’ll be using the same high-quality equipment that fills our community art school studios, so you can focus on creating without worrying about supplies.

There are two great reasons to join:

1️⃣ To enjoy making art for the sheer fun of it, learning from a range of inspiring tutors, building confidence, and discovering new techniques along the way.

2️⃣ To strengthen your portfolio and support your schoolwork, this course is especially valuable for students studying GCSE, A-level, or other creative qualifications, but also offering a weekly boost to your artistic skills and ideas if you are younger. It’s a great grounding for all ages.

Whether you’re dreaming of a future in the creative industries or just love making art for yourself, this course is your space to grow, surrounded by like-minded young people who get it.

Once you join, you’ll also get priority booking for future terms as the Saturday Studio Sessions continue, introducing a new artist and project each week.

Build your skills.

Fuel your imagination.

Keep creating, for school, for your future, and for the love of it.

This is a unique course to Beth Morris Workshops that you won’t find anywhere else in Cardiff.
