Workshop Description:

A day of painting, creativity and Christmas sparkle

Join Gail Jones, a talented self-taught artist and illustrator whose delicate, expressive work has captured the attention of renowned clients, for a festive day of watercolour painting inspired by the beauty of luxurious velvet bows.

Set in the picturesque surroundings of Insole Court, this workshop is the perfect way to slow down before Christmas, a creative escape filled with warmth, colour and a touch of luxury. They’ll also be mulled wine and mince pies for added seasonal atmosphere.

You’ll begin with a few quick drawing exercises to loosen up, guided by Gail’s calm, encouraging approach. Step-by-step, she’ll show you how to capture the softness, depth and folds of velvet, recreating the elegant shape and sheen of a hand-tied bow in watercolour.

By the afternoon, you’ll bring your work together to create a finished piece: either a festive greetings card or a framed painting to treasure or gift.

Gail’s simple, beautiful style makes her teaching both accessible and inspiring, helping you grow in confidence and develop your own creative eye.

This will be a mindful, seasonal workshop filled with creativity, conversation and festive joy. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter, you’ll leave with your own luxurious watercolour bow and a little extra Christmas sparkle.

Artist / Maker / Tutor:

Gail Jones is a celebrated botanical artist and illustrator working from her studio in rural Buckinghamshire. Known for her exquisite watercolour studies of flowers, foliage and seasonal botanicals, Gail’s work brings the quiet poetry of nature to life one delicate brushstroke at a time.

Her original paintings and illustrations are highly sought after by brands, publishers, stylists and private collectors. Gail’s collaborations include Jo Malone, Molton Brown and Dior, with her refined botanical style bringing natural beauty and timeless elegance to interiors, packaging, print and editorial projects.
