WORKSHOP:

Hand-Built Vase & Everlasting Bouquet with Sprig Studio

Spend a joyful day with artist Amy of Sprig Studio exploring the beauty of clay and flowers, and create something lasting to take home.

You’ll begin by learning the basics of hand-building with stoneware clay, using professional tools and simple techniques that Amy uses in her own work. She’ll gently guide you step-by-step as you shape and build your own ceramic vase, inspired by one of her bestselling designs.

Once your vase is taking form, you’ll switch to flowers, creating a dried bouquet to fill it. With Amy’s guidance, you’ll learn how to choose blooms, add texture and movement, and put together boho-style posies that look beautiful for months (and often years) to come.

After lunch, you’ll return to your vase to refine its shape and add your own creative touches using slips or specialist glazes. Amy will then take care of the final firing and glazing, ready for you to collect and enjoy at home.

This is a relaxed, creative day for beginners and improvers alike, a brilliant workshop to do with friends, or a chance to slow down, make with your hands, and celebrate the art of clay, colour, and flowers. Perfect as a Mother’s Day gift, or simply a beautiful way to enjoy a Sunday yourself.

Artist / Maker / Tutor:

Amy Pay is a freelance journalist, content creator, and creative consultant, and the founder of Sprig Studio. As a journalist, she has worked for over a decade at Lonely Planet, Visit Wales, The Guardian, The Telegraph, and ITV.

At Sprig Studio, Amy creates hand-built ceramics especially vases, mugs and vessels that hold beautiful everlasting flowers, combining thoughtful forms with natural, botanical inspiration. Her pieces are made with a slow, careful approach and an eye for everyday usefulness and quiet beauty.

Amy’s workshops are relaxed, mindful, and accessible. As an autistic artist, creativity is a key part of managing daily life for her. Amy wants attendees to know she’ll try to accommodate any neurodivergent needs or adjustments, and that her sessions are ND-friendly and welcoming.

Her practice champions imperfection, care, and connection - an invitation to slow down, make with your hands, and bring a little beauty into daily life. Sprig Studio products are on sale locally at Heads Above The Waves and Art Market.
