'Springtime and Easter Watercolour' with Ellie Hooi
21st March 2027
Sunday 10:00-4:00
Cross Generational workshop. Adults and children 11+ can attend (you will need to purchase two tickets)
Workshop Description:
Join us for a wonderfully creative day celebrating the arrival of spring with the incredibly popular illustrator Ellie Hooi, whose distinctive, whimsical watercolour illustrations have captured the hearts of so many. With a loyal following and workshops that regularly sell out, we're delighted to welcome Ellie back to share her charming illustration style with us.
This special cross-generational workshop is open to adults attending individually, but also offers a lovely opportunity for parents, grandparents or accompanying adults to bring along a young artist aged 11 or over and enjoy a creative day together.
Taking inspiration from the fresh colours of spring and the playful traditions of Easter, you'll explore everything from beautifully decorated Easter eggs and spring flowers to adorable bunnies and characterful animals that capture the joy of the season.
Discover how Ellie combines delicate watercolour painting with fine liner drawing to create her delightful illustrations, full of personality, charm and those little details that make her work so recognisable.
With Ellie's expert guidance, you'll learn essential drawing and painting techniques, experiment with colour and detail, and discover some of the secrets behind her much-loved whimsical style.
Whether you're completely new to watercolours or already enjoy drawing and painting, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn directly from Ellie, develop your confidence and enjoy a day of spring-inspired creativity.
You'll leave with your own collection of beautiful illustrations, including a personalised greeting card or a piece of artwork ready to frame and treasure.
Artist / Maker / Tutor:
Ellie is an illustrator and stationery producer from Cardiff, Wales. She set up Ellie Hooi Illustration to create and share handmade watercolour illustrations, and to make greeting cards that would bring a smile to someone’s day through the joy of a handwritten card. Ellie has developed a large social media following and regular shares films of her bringing her characters to life through paint.
Ellie is mainly inspired by the local wildlife and seasonal produce that she grows at her allotment. Her characters have their own personalities and you can almost hear their little conversations, which makes me wonder is Ellie Cardiff’s very own Beatrix Potter?
What is included in the ticket price?
All art supplies are provided but you are welcome to bring your own along too if you prefer.
Tea, coffee and biscuits.
Where will the workshops take place?
In Beth’s studio at Insole Court, Cardiff.
Please read all the T’s and C’s before booking.
