Nature Inspired Tin Embossing
Thursday 19th February 2026
10:00-12:00
Age 7-14
Taught by Emma Prentice
This is a hands-on, thoughtful workshop for young creatives who love drawing, pattern, and making things with their hands.
We’ll begin with observational drawing, working from a carefully curated collection of natural objects laid out on the table. Think feathers, leaves, branches, acorns, pine cones, seed pods and other beautiful found forms. The focus is on really looking - noticing shape, line, texture, and pattern.
Using pencil and fine line, the artists will explore:
mark-making and repeated pattern
line, curve, and detail
building drawings layer by layer
From these drawings, we’ll move into something a bit different.
The young creatives will transfer their ideas onto tin, using a specialist embossing tool to press and raise their designs. This process creates beautiful textured surfaces and introduces them to relief and surface in a really accessible, exciting way.
From the tin work, each artist will:
create a nature-inspired embossed hanging decoration
create mini tin frames to mount and display their original drawings
This workshop brings together drawing, making, and presentation, helping young artists see how their work can be developed, transformed, and celebrated.
It’s calm, focused, and very satisfying.
Perfect for children who enjoy detail, pattern, and experimenting with materials.
All materials are provided.
No previous experience needed.
Just curiosity and a love of making.
Where will the workshops take place?
At the Beth Morris Workshops studio, The Dairy in the grounds of Insole Court, Cardiff. The children will create together around a large table.
Is there a discount for siblings?
Of course. If you are booking more than one child in the same household (siblings) onto a course please use the code WEAREFAMILY to take 10% off your overall in-person workshop booking. Please don’t use the code unless you are booking for siblings though. This is not a code for parents to book 2 friends on. It’s to support families with more than one child attending 😊 This code is only for children’s holiday workshops.
Do I have to adhere to the age guidelines when booking?
Yes please. I have years of teaching experience and I am the Mum of three, so I set the age limits for a reason. The tasks are age appropriate and the children / young people should all feel comfortable with their peers.
My child has additional learning needs - Is the workshop suitable?
We can not offer 1:1 support unfortunately, but if they can work semi-independently with 14 peers, they will love our fun inclusive and relaxed workshops. The tutor will make sure they understand the tasks and support them within the session. On booking, please email info@bethmorrisworkshops.co.uk with any extra information that will help us support your child so we can be fully prepared. You know your child best so please talk to us so we can help.
Does my child need to bring any materials or art supplies?
No, all materials are included in the price of the workshop, just don’t wear your best clothes!
