Landscape Drawing and Painting
Mondays 7:15-8:45 (10 in each session)
During these workshops taught by tutor and practising artist Scott Euden, the class will engage in specific techniques and practices such as mark-making, observation, en plain air discipline, urban sketching, sketchbooks, mixed media, painting & drawing. There will be lots of opportunity for informal group discussions on art theory and cognitive processes relating to landscape painting.
The aim will be to develop skills and confidence to create dynamic landscapes that relate directly to personal experience and support the personal development of each student’s individual style.
Insole Court is the perfect location to explore landscapes and the urban environment. Weather and light dependent this course will be based outdoors (in the grounds and surrounding areas of Insole Court, Llandaff) so please bring a warm coat. This summer (2021) will be focused on the direct study of nature, utilising sketchbook study and a myriad of media and techniques. We will be focusing each session on developing the vital artistic skill of ‘En Plein Air’.
All students will be given an octopus hard backed sketchbook to fill over the course of the term.
Scott is a dynamic experimental artist so be prepared to take on artistic challenges. It’s a real ‘old school’ art class and you will learn by doing!
